EET Fuels is at the forefront of the UK’s decarbonisation efforts, pioneering an energy transition hub at Stanlow, nestled in the vibrant North West, close to Liverpool, Chester, and Manchester.

Our pledge

A 95% reduction in emissions by this decade

Stanlow, a strategic refinery, fuels UK transportation by producing approximately 16% of the country’s road fuels. The refining process is carbon-intensive, making Stanlow a significant CO2 emitter. However, we’re committed to continuing the production of these essential fuels while drastically cutting their associated CO2 emissions.

 

Our goal? To become one of the world’s first low carbon process refineries.

Our decarbonisation plan

Since 2011, we’ve sustainably reduced our emissions by 22%. Our target is a 95% reduction by this decade. We plan to achieve this through:

EET Industrial Carbon Capture

EET Fuels and HyNet: A powerful partnership

EET Fuels is integral to the HyNet North West Cluster, chosen by the UK Government as one of two clusters for industrial decarbonisation. The CO2 and hydrogen pipelines will be centred around Stanlow, with EET Hydrogen developing over 1GW of low carbon hydrogen to decarbonise manufacturing and power generation sites across the North West and North Wales.

Proud to be part of EET

Essar Energy Transition is investing US$3.6 billion in developing a range of low carbon energy transition projects over the next five years, of which US$2.4 billion will be invested in the UK. This investment supports the reduction of around 3.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide, around 20% of the total industrial emissions in North West England.

Providing today’s vital fuels

EET Fuels produces a range of fuels and chemicals, many of which currently lack renewable alternatives.

Our annual production exceeds 4.4 billion litres of diesel, 3 billion litres of petrol, and 2 billion litres of jet fuel. We process over 9 million tonnes of crude oil and feedstock each year, optimising our output through our process units.

We’re a major supplier in the North West and beyond, serving major retail brands, airports, commercial airlines, and regional public transport.
