Essar Energy Transitions Fuels prides itself in being the leading player in the decarbonisation of the UK economy through its delivery of an energy transition hub. We place great value on honesty and integrity. We are committed to protecting, safeguarding, and respecting your privacy.  

In this privacy notice references to “we”, “us” and “our” means Essar Oil UK Limited (trading as “EET Fuels”) and its group of subsidiary companies (referred to as the “group” below).

This means that we are responsible for deciding how we hold and use personal information about you. We are required under data protection legislation to notify you of the information contained in this privacy notice. 

This privacy notice describes how we collect and use personal information about you during and after your working relationship with us, in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018.   

Who does it apply to? 

This privacy notice applies to individuals who visit or register to use our website, subscribe to our newsletter and when you report a problem with our site. 

It is important that you read and retain this notice, together with any other privacy notice we may provide on specific occasions when we are collecting or processing personal information about you, so that you are aware of how and why we are using that information and what your rights are under the data protection legislation.

We will comply with data protection law, which says that the personal information we hold about you must be:

We may collect and process the following data about you:  

Personal Identity Information – such as name, postal or email address, phone number, photograph identity documents   

Location Data and Online Identifiers – such as your Internet Protocol (IP address) 

Information we collect about you 

With regard to each of your visits to our site we may automatically collect the following information:  

  • technical information, including the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet, your login information, browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform;  
  • information about your visit, including the full Uniform Resource Locators (URL) clickstream to, through and from our site (including date and time); products you viewed or searched for; page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs), and methods used to browse away from the page and any phone number used to call us.

We are also working closely with third parties (including, for example, business partners, sub-contractors in technical, payment and delivery services, advertising networks, analytics providers, search information providers, credit reference agencies) and may receive information about you from them.

  • to ensure that content from our site is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer. 

Information we collect about you: 

  • to administer our site and for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, statistical and survey purposes; 
  • to improve our site to ensure that content is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer; 
  • to process your recruitment application 
  • to allow you to participate in interactive features of our service, when you choose to do so; 
  • as part of our efforts to keep our site safe and secure; 
  • to measure or understand the effectiveness of advertising we serve to you and others, and to deliver relevant advertising to you;

Why do we process your personal data?  

The personal data covered by this Privacy Notice are only processed:  

  • in order to take steps at the request of an individual prior to entering into a contract;  
  • where it is necessary to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation to which the relevant Essar company/companies is subject to;  
  • where it is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the relevant Essar company/companies, except where such interests are overridden by the interests or fundamental rights and freedoms of the individual/s; or  
  • (only if legally required) with the explicit consent of the individual.  

In those cases where processing is based on consent, and subject to applicable local law which provides otherwise, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. This will not affect the validity of the processing prior to the withdrawal of consent. 

Who will we share the personal data with?  

The personal data covered by this Privacy Notice are exclusively processed for the purposes referred to above and will only be shared on a strict need to know basis with:  

  • Other companies within the Essar group of companies;  
  • Authorized third party agents, service providers, external auditors and/or subcontractors of Essar; or  
  • A competent public authority, government, regulatory or fiscal agency where it is necessary to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation to which the relevant Essar company/companies is subject to or as permitted by applicable local law. 
  • Advertisers and advertising networks that require the data to select and serve relevant adverts to you and others. We do not disclose information about identifiable individuals to our advertisers, but we may provide them with aggregate information about our users (for example, we may inform them that 500 men aged under 30 have clicked on their advertisement on any given day). We may also use such aggregate information to help advertisers reach the kind of audience they want to target (for example, women in SW1). We may make use of the personal data we have collected from you to enable us to comply with our advertisers' wishes by displaying their advertisement to that target audience. 

Transfers of your personal data to other countries  

Where your personal data have been transferred to companies within the Essar group and/or to authorized third parties located outside of your country (including outside of the European Economic Area and the UK) we take organisational, contractual and legal measures to ensure that your personal data are exclusively processed for the purposes mentioned above and that adequate levels of protection have been implemented in order to safeguard your personal data. These measures include ESSAR International DATA Transfer Agreement for transfers among the Essar group and international locations. Data Security  

We have implemented technology and policies with the objective of protecting your privacy from unauthorised access and improper use and will update these measures as new technology becomes available, as appropriate 

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal information from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. Additionally, we limit access to your personal information to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal information on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.   

We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected data security breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected breach where we are legally required to do so. 

Data Retention 

Personal data processed by Essar in line with this Privacy Notice will be deleted or rendered anonymous (such that it will no longer be possible to identify you); 

  • every 7 years where you remain a customer during this period; 
  • after 7 years for all subscribed services from our last interaction with you (that is where you have not used our services for 7 years).  

In all cases information may be held for (a) a longer period of time where there is a legal or regulatory reason to do so (in which case it will be deleted once no longer required for the legal or regulatory purpose) or (b) a shorter period where the individual objects to the processing of their personal data and there is no longer a legitimate business purpose to retain it.

Your rights in relation to your personal data  

Under certain circumstances, by law you have the right to:  

Request access to your personal information (commonly known as a data subject access request). This enables you to receive a copy of the personal information we hold about you and to check that we are lawfully processing it.  

Request correction of the personal information that we hold about you. This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate information we hold about you corrected.  

Request erasure of your personal information. This enables you to ask us to delete or remove personal information where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it.   

Object to processing of your personal information where we are relying on a legitimate interest (or those of a third party) and there is something about your particular situation which makes you want to object to processing on this ground.  

Request the restriction of processing of your personal information. This enables you to ask us to suspend the processing of personal information about you, for example if you want us to establish its accuracy or the reason for processing it.  

Request the right of portability. This enables you to ask us to move, copy or transfer your personal information to another party where this processing was based on your consent or for performance of a contract or when carried out by automated means.   

Request the right not to be subject to Automated Decision making. This enables you where we have automated decision making and produces a legal effect or similar for you to ask not to be subjected to automated decision.
